The street-jihadi spectrum: Marginality, radicalization and resistance to extremism

For over a decade, jihadi terrorism in Europe, and the recruitment of Europeans to fight for ISIS Syria, have increasingly involved marginalized youths from social context street culture, illegal drug use crime. Existing theoretical models crime-terrorism nexus radicalization arguably do not sufficiently explain fluid dynamic ways by which cultural come be politico-religiously violent. This paper provides novel retheorization, street-jihadi spectrum, is better placed wide range behaviours, merely stylistic spectacularly On culture end it includes subcultural play with provocative symbols on ‘gangster-jihadists’.
